Scheiner Laser Bleph
Intensive exfoliation and tightening of flabby, wrinkled lower eyelids
The tightening of wrinkles and bags caused by the flabbiness of the lower eyelids with laser surgery. In the course of Scheiner Laser Bleph, the Erbium-based tuneable resurfacing laser evaporates the layers of the skin with the help of a scanner deeply. It heats up the tissues below the peeled layers, which makes the collagen network shrink and the skin lift naturally (lifting effect). As a result of the treatment, the skin of the eyelid will smooth out.
Recommended for
Those have flabby, baggy and wrinkly lower eyelids. Those who have had plastic surgery on the upper eyelid but surgery of the lower eyelid was deemed unnecessary. Those who are willing to undergo a treatment that involves some injury to the skin and a few weeks of recovery period to achieve a spectacular effect.
Treatable skin surfaces?
The lower eyelid.
Preparation
The Scheiner Laser Bleph treatment is arranged by appointment, as it cannot be performed on the day of the examination. Patients need to take acyclovir pills from one day prior to the treatment for 10 consecutive days (in order to avoid any effect causing a sudden flare up of herpes, which may occur after treatments involving a skin injury).
The treatment
In the course of a Scheiner Laser Bleph treatment we use a high-speed and high-accuracy scanner to evaporate the top layers of the skin. The depth of the intervention can be set accurately on the equipment, and thereby we can plan the recovery period. The smoke is extracted with a medical smoke extractor system equipped with HEPA filters thus preventing inhalation by the patient or the treating staff. The treatment causes discomfort, and therefore we use an anaesthesia cream or wired (injection) based anaesthesia.
Ability to work, nursing at home
The injury to the skin appearing over the entire skin surface treated with Scheiner Laser Bleph can cause redness, weeping or eyelid swelling (oedema) and therefore the patient is unable to work. The skin surface below the skin layers removed with the laser forms a dry, brownish sheet, which cracks and peels off in large sheets after a few days. After the peeling, the fresh, young skin layers become visible. Following the treatment, the skin requires careful nursing at home, though makeup can be applied after a week. We recommend avoiding exposure to light for 3 months after the treatment.
Number of treatments
Only one treatment is required.
Scientific background of the treatment
The ContourPeel exfoliation, which is the basis of the Scheiner Laser Bleph treatment, uses the Erbium:YAG laser technology developed by Sciton Inc., a US laser manufacturing company. With a Tuneable Resurfacing Laser the recovery period can be planned and a safe intervention depth can be set for each skin surface. The high-precision tool performs real peeling, unlike the consequential peeling caused by the fractionated CO2 lasers as the secondary side effect of the damage to the top skin layers caused by heating, which was not as precisely plannable as with the Erbium-based tuneable resurfacing laser. Led by Dr Gábor Varju, Dr Derm Anti-Aging Dermatology, Aesthetic Laser and Plastic Surgery was the first institution to use the equipment and the related treatment method in Hungary.
Cost of the treatment
The Scheiner Laser Bleph costs HUF 198,000. The above treatment price involves local anaesthesia but does not include light sedation or deep anaesthesia.
