MycoLaser
Laser treatment of nail fungus
Have the alterations caused in your nails by fungal infection treated by laser, without injuring or losing your nails.
Recommended for
Those whose toenails have changed (become thickened, discoloured or fragile) as a result of a fungal infection. Those who would like to restore the health of their nails with a gentle treatment, without having them surgically removed. Those for whom external treatment (rubs, fungicidal nail-varnish, creams), or orally administered medicinal products have not produced the expected result. Those to whom drug therapy is not recommended or who are simply against taking anti-fungal drugs.
Treatable skin surfaces
Toenails.
Preparation
The MycoLaser treatment requires no special preparation and can usually be carried out on the day of examination.
The treatment
In the course of the MycoLaser treatment, we apply short light pulses in patches to the nails with the tip of a pencil-type handpiece, rapidly heating them up. The air cooling eases the discomfort caused by the heating. The treatment may cause slight discomfort; though it is generally painless.
Ability to work, nursing at home
The patient can return to work immediately after the MycoLaser treatment as it causes no injury. Slight irritation, redness or swelling may occur on the treated area.
Number of treatments
Just one treatment may be effective but we recommend repeating the treatments (a course of 4 treatments) in order to achieve a perfect result. The treatments can be applied every 2 weeks.
Scientific background of the treatment
We use the long-pulse Nd:YAG laser of Cynosure Inc., a US laser manufacturing company for the MycoLaser treatment. The laser light heats up the cuticle and the nail and kills the developed fungi and the spores. When the infection is over a large area or is resistant to therapy, it may need to be combined with external products or internal treatment.
Cost of the treatment
A MycoLaser treatment costs between HUF 21,000 and HUF 30,000, depending on the number of nails to be treated.
