CryoSurgery
Removal of age spots, flat growths and viral warts with liquid nitrogen
Skin mutations can be destroyed with liquid nitrogen sprayed onto the skin surface and, after the separation of the damaged tissue, the skin nicely epithelises through its own recovery skills. The treatment is fast and produces a good aesthetic results.
Recommended for
Those on whose skin smaller or larger, brownish pigmented patches or flatly elevating growths develop. Those on whose face or eyelid flat, viral verrucas (verruca plana) have developed. Those on whose body a greater or lesser numbers of rough, occasionally narrowing and then increasing mutation, or old-age epithelial growths (verruca seborrhoica) have appeared.
Treatable skin surfaces
All skin surfaces and accessible mucous membranes.
Preparation
The CryoSurgery treatment does not require any special preparation; we can usually do it on the day of the examination.
The treatment
During the CryoSurgery treatment, we use a special pistol to apply liquid nitrogen onto the surface of the skin. The treatment may cause slight discomfort and a burning sensation, though we apply local anaesthetic (cream or injection) in the case of larger growths.
Ability to work, nursing at home
The CryoSurgery treatment does not cause any injury to the skin surface, therefore the patient can return to work immediately. Redness and swelling (oedema) may occur on the treated area. After a CryoSurgery treatment, the treated surface may be exposed to water (the patient can even swim). Any blistering heals in just a few days. After treatment you will need to continue to care for your skin at home and we always recommend avoiding exposure to light for a month.
Number of treatments
In general, the growths disappear after one treatment. In exceptional cases (large-surface, flat growth or viral mutation), correction may also be required.
Scientific background of the treatment
Dr Gábor Varju learned CryoSurgery on a dermatological surgery course organised in the US at the beginning of the 1990s. Led by Dr Gábor Varju, Dr Derm Anti-Aging Dermatology, Aesthetic Laser and Plastic Surgery was the first private clinic to use the Brymill cryosurgery equipment in Hungary.
Cost of the treatment
A CryoSurgery treatment costs between HUF 7,000 and HUF 60,000, depending on the number of growths to be treated and the size of the skin surface.
