Rosacea PDL
Treatment of skin with dilated blood vessels and inflamed rosacea
We offer a vascular specific laser treatment for fine or not very large vasodilatation, vascular birthmarks and rosacea on the skin. In the PDL treatment of Rosacea the light of the pulsed dye laser is absorbed by the haemoglobin of the blood, thereby targeting the heat on the dilated blood vessels. As the walls of the blood vessels are heated up, they stick together and are blocked. With the Rosacea PDL treatment, the blood vessels causing the problem disappear without causing any injury to the skin surface.
Recommended for
Those who have developed dilated blood vessels on their skin, or suffer from any form of rosacea diagnosed by a physician. Those who have a vascular birthmark, a port-wine stain or vasodilatation (naevus araneus, rubin naevus) on their skin either from birth or developing later. Those who seek a gentle, non-ablative treatment to remove a disorder from their facial skin.
Treatable skin surfaces
The two sides of the face or the whole face, the neck and the cleavage. Any part of the body that contains disturbing vasodilatation or a vascular birthmark. More than one region can be treated at the same time.
Preparation
The Rosacea PDL treatment does not require any special preparation and can usually be carried out on the day of the examination. We recommend not sunbathing or visiting tanning salons for two weeks prior to the Rosacea PDL treatment.
The treatment
In the course of the Rosacea PDL treatment, we apply short light pulses to patches of the skin with the tip of a pencil-type handpiece. Then we treat the neighbouring skin area. We treat the area in 2-3 rows, depending on the nature of the problem. The cold air cooling prevents burns to the skin. The treatment may cause slight discomfort, though it is generally painless.
Ability to work, nursing at home
The patient can return to work immediately after the Rosacea PDL treatment as it causes no skin injury. Mild redness which generally disappears in a few hours may occur on the treated area or there may be purple spots may on the area of the burst blood vessels (purpura) which are indicators of the effectiveness of the treatment and disappear in 5-7 days. These conditions are always temporary but, as they may be disturbing, the patient is recommended to take a few days off work. After treatment you will need to continue caring for your skin at home and we always recommend avoiding exposure to light for a month.
Number of treatments
Just one treatment may be effective but we recommend repeating the treatments (a course of 2-4 treatments) in order to achieve a perfect result. The Rosacea PDL treatments can be repeated every 2-3 weeks.
Scientific background of the treatment
We use the Cynergy pulsed dye laser of Cynosure Inc., a US laser manufacturing company, for the Rosacea PDL treatment. The pulsed dye laser is the internationally acknowledged “gold standard” in any vascular treatment. It was named after the special method of flashing light excitation of the organic dye used for producing the laser light and which is perfectly absorbed in haemoglobin, the colouring of the blood. Led by Dr Gábor Varju, Dr Derm Anti-Aging Dermatology, Aesthetic Laser and Plastic Surgery is the first institution to use the equipment and the related treatment methods in Hungary.
Cost of the treatment
A Rosacea PDL treatment costs between HUF 36,000 and HUF 120,000, depending on the size of the skin surface to be treated.
